Grand Tour of Sicily, archaeological sites and baroque pearls

Day 1 – Catania Region
Arrival of the group in Sicily. Accommodation at the hotel in the area of Catania, dinner and overnight.
Day 2 – Etna and Taormina
After breakfast at the hotel, departure for the excursion to Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano, as well as one of the largest in the world. In 2013 Mount Etna was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Visit of the summit craters. Lunch at the restaurant and descent to Taormina for the visit of the city. With its aspect as medieval village, its ancient Greek soul, its colours and its typical scents of Mediterranean vegetation, Taormina is the capital of Sicilian tourism. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 – Siracusa and Noto
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Siracusa. In the morning, visit the Neapolis archaeological site with the Greek Theater, the Ear of Dionysius, the Roman Amphitheater. Then visit the Island of Ortigia, with its Cathedral and the Fountain of Arethusa. Lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon, visit of Noto and its Baroque center. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 – Aeolian Islands: Lipari and Vulcano
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Milazzo. Ferry crossing to Lipari. Departure for the tour of the island by bus. The visit includes a first stop at “Belvedere di Quattrocchi” for a panoramic view of the island of Vulcano and “I Faraglioni di Lipari”. Continuing, we will pass through the northwestern part of the island until reaching the villages “Pianoconte” and “Quattropani”. Stop at “Belvedere Punto Legno Nero” to admire the islands of Salina, Panarea, Stromboli, Filicudi and Alicudi. Lunch at the restaurant. In the early afternoon, ferry crossing to Vulcano. Little free time for the visit. Return by ferryboat to Milazzo. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 – Piazza Armerina / Agrigento
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Piazza Armerina. In the morning, visit to the Villa Romana del Casale, a beautiful villa with 3,500 square meters of pavements covered with figurative and geometric mosaics, columns, statues, capitals and ancient coins. Lunch at the restaurant and departure to Agrigento. Visit of the Valley of the Temples. The imposing Doric temples are one of the most significant testimonies of Greek culture and art, and tell us about a thousand-year history that began in the 6th century B.C. with the foundation of the ancient colony of Akragas. Accommodation at the hotel in the area. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6 – Marsala, Motia, Erice, Palermo

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Marsala. In the morning, visit to the Salt Pans with the characteristic windmills and to the small and charming Island of Motia, once a Phoenician colony, and today a place rich not only in history and culture, but also for of natural beauties. Visit of a local wine cellar in the area and typical lunch with wine tasting. In the afternoon, visit of Erice and the historical center of this charming medieval village, located at an altitude of 750 m. Stroll through the winding streets while enjoying the dazzling panoramas that surround the village. In the evening, check-in at the hotel in Palermo. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7 – Palermo and Monreale
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, visit of Palermo and its historical center. Visit of the Quattro Canti, crossing of 2 avenues that separate Palermo into 4 districts, visit of the Cathedral and of the Norman Palace. Lunch at the restaurant and departure to Monreale, located on the heights of Palermo. Visit of the Cloister and the Cathedral, whose walls are entirely covered with splendid Byzantine style mosaics. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 8 – Return to your area
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure of the group and end of our services.
