Grand Tour of Sardinia

Sardinia is much more than an island: it is a whole universe afloat in the Mediterranean Sea, a world to see and explore. Start from the popular northern coasts, the typical elite holiday destination, then travel in the countryside to search for nuraghes, ancient prehistoric buildings and remains of a civilisation that has no equal in the world. Visit medieval villages that still live at a slow pace like in the ancient times: maybe you will also have the chance to see some festivals with people dressed in traditional costumes. Then you will arrive in Cagliari, with its medieval citadel overlooking the sea: in this way you will see the southern part of the island, with its white-sand beaches. An inland road leads to the very heart of the region: the Barbagia area with its shepherds, where you may taste the local cheeses with carasau bread.
