With the Alps in the background, the great Italian lakes offer enchanting and romantic landscapes to be discovered on foot.
Their trails may be a bit challenging at times, but the stunning backdrop of the lake landscape and the Alps is definitely worth it. While walking, you will come across woods and small villages, a reminder of the true mountain life of locals.

Day 1 – Lake Maggiore
Arrival at Lake Maggiore. Accomodation at the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 2 – Lake Orta and its hamlets
Walking time: 4 hours – Elevation: 300 m (between ascent and descent) – Max altitude: 530 m
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the hike with your guide. Lake Orta surrounded by mountains retains a romantic atmosphere, with the small villages perched mid-coast. The excursion leaves from Armeno and through a route that takes place in a wood of broadleaf (especially chestnut and oak trees) and meadows allows to visit small villages full of charm: Ameno with the neogotic park, Miasino with the beautiful Church of San Rocco and its beautiful 17th century houses, Legro, the “painted country” which presents on the walls of the houses several frescoes inspired by films shot in and around Lake Orta in years past. Lunch during the excursion. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 – The “Strà Vegia”, the medieval mule track, access gate to Monte Rosa
Walking time: 4 hours – Elevation: 300 m (between ascent and descent) – Max altitude: 543 m
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the hike with your guide. It is a hike that develops halfway up the Anzasca valley, a balcony overlooking the Alps with a magnificent view of Monte Rosa and very beautiful. We will continue by coach to Macugnaga to visit the beautiful village located at an altitude of 1400 mts at the foot of the east wall of Monte Rosa. Lunch during the excursion. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 – Stresa and the Borromean Islands
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Stresa. Meeting with the local guide and boarding for the excursion to the Borromean Islands: Bella Island, visit to the Borromeo Palace and Garden and Fisherman’s Island. Lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon, free time in Stresa. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 – Mottarone, a balcony overlooking the Alps and the lakes
Walking time: 4 hours – Elevation: 470 m (between ascent and descent) – Max altitude: 1491 m
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the hike with your guide. The hike starts from the top of Mottarone and goes around in a loop passing through the pastures of Alpe Nuovo, from where with a deviation you can reach the summit of Monte Zughero to return to the path and continue towards Alpe Celle. The course sometimes reveals rocks with particular shapes and passes in front of rocks arranged for climbing. It is a hike that allows you to taste a beautiful panorama in a landscape of meadows and small groves and which gives the feeling of having the world below yourself. Lunch by packed lunch during the excursion. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 6 – Montecrestese between testimonies of megalithism and the Middle Ages
Walking time: 4 hours and 30 minutes – Elevation: 430 m (between ascent and descent) – Max altitude: 730 m
Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the hike with your guide. It is a very varied and beautiful loop route, as there is special attention to the construction of stone houses, which offers the opportunity to enter the peasant life of the medieval villages of the Vallée d’Ossola with its vineyards still cared for and a beautiful view of the plain. Optional: possibility to visit at the end of the hike the beautiful Ethnographic Museum of Pontetto with the oven for baking bread, an interesting collection of several tools of old trades that make life of yesteryear present and lively. Lunch by packed lunch during the excursion. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 7 – Return to your area
