Infiorata di Spello – The Flower Festival in Umbria
The Flower Festival in Spello (Infiorata) is an event that takes place every year in the city of the same name on the occasion of the Feast of Corpus Christi. Florists work all night long to carpets and pictures made of flowers along the streets of the old town centre, so as to celebrate the passage of the religious procession. The result is 1.5 km path, with over sixty different kinds of flowers and reproductions of famous or original works.
Arrival of the group in the late afternoon in Perugia region. Accomodation at the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 2, Saturday – Perugia and Lake Trasimeno
After breakfast at the hotel, departure to Perugia. Meeting with the local guide and visit of the historical center and its spectacular monuments. Watching over the Palace of the Priors, a bronze griffin and lion dominate the elegant marble fountain of the Pisano family. Between the Middle Ages and Renaissance, the facades elegantly follow one another along Corso Vannucci, with its chic shops, to the fortifications of Rocca Paolina. Lunch at the restaurant and continue to Lake Trasimeno, to visit the small villages. Return to the hotel for dinner and accommodation.
Day 3, Sunday – Flower Festival in Spello / Assisi
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Spello, to witness the famous Infiorata.
Continue to Assisi for lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon guided tour of Assisi and the small historical city center, the Basilica of San Francesco, the Piazza del Comune with the temple of Minerva, the civic tower, the Palazzi del Capitano and del Popolo, the Cathedral and the Church of Santa Chiara. Stop at Santa Maria degli Angeli to visit the Basilica that houses the Porziuncola, a small church that was the reference point for the whole life of St. Francis. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4, Monday – Return to your area
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure of the group and end of our services.
